Die Casting Machine Maintenance and Care Guidelines
1. Overview
Regular maintenance of die casting machines is essential for safe, efficient, and high-quality production. A well-maintained machine reduces downtime, extends equipment life, and ensures consistent casting quality.
2. Hydraulic System Maintenance
2.1 Daily Checks
- Check hydraulic oil level in the tank and top up if needed
- Monitor hydraulic oil temperature (should not exceed 55C)
- Inspect for oil leaks at all connections, hoses, and seals
- Listen for abnormal pump noise or vibration
- Check hydraulic pressure gauge readings against specifications
2.2 Weekly Maintenance
- Clean or replace hydraulic oil filters as needed
- Check hydraulic hose conditions for wear, cracking, or bulging
- Inspect accumulator nitrogen pressure and recharge if low
- Clean hydraulic oil cooler fins for proper heat dissipation
2.3 Major Service (Every 2000-3000 Hours)
- Replace hydraulic oil completely
- Replace all hydraulic filters (return, pressure, suction)
- Flush and clean the hydraulic system
- Inspect and replace worn seals in hydraulic cylinders
- Check and calibrate all pressure relief valves
3. Injection System Maintenance
- Check injection plunger/shot sleeve alignment weekly
- Inspect shot sleeve for wear and scoring marks
- Lubricate the injection plunger regularly with proper lubricant
- Check injection speed and pressure calibration monthly
- Inspect the accumulator bladder for proper function
- Clean injection nozzle and check for blockages
4. Clamping System Maintenance
- Lubricate toggle mechanism pivot points daily
- Check tie bar nuts for proper torque specifications
- Inspect toggle pins and bushings for wear monthly
- Verify platen parallelism quarterly
- Check clamping force calibration every six months
- Inspect moving platen support shoes for wear
5. Electrical System Maintenance
- Keep electrical cabinets clean and dust-free
- Check all electrical connections for tightness monthly
- Inspect wiring for heat damage or insulation breakdown
- Test all safety interlocks and emergency stops weekly
- Backup PLC program parameters and settings regularly
6. Cooling System Maintenance
- Check cooling water flow rate and pressure daily
- Clean water filters and strainers weekly
- Descale cooling passages quarterly to prevent blockages
- Monitor water quality and treat with inhibitors as needed
- Check for water leaks at all connections
